After Lunch With Frankie, Part II of Interview

BMOC*
Yours Truly and Ghoulia in a Frankie Stein Design
(*big monster on campus)

GZ:  We are back after a great lunch at a pizza place down the street.  Frankie, I just felt there was more to this interview after we sat down to lunch and you started talking about your new line of designs.

FS: It was a good lunch GZ. Thanks for coming with me.  You know how to have fun!

GZ:  My pleasure.  Now, tell me about your latest line.  Please.

FS:  I found this wonderful fabric.  A lush and lovely stretch jersey in gray and black.  It just sang to me.  I did some sketches and then hit the sewing table and what I showed you is what happened.

Ghoulia and Cleo in Frankie's new line

GZ:  Well, seems like a bit more than that.  I saw chains and leather…

FS: Oh, that!  I have wanted to take things a bit further in my designs.  They seemed to compliment the softness of the jersey, while also giving the designs an extra kick.

Leather and chain cuff bracelet

GZ:  I see a bit of jewelry too…

FS:  Yes, just a little.  I am still learning.  (she smiles that classic Frankie smile!)

GZ: You made some phone calls for us- and got some of your friends in here to model.

FS:  Yes, I did!

GZ: Ghoulia looked pretty stunning in that outfit.  Clawdeen looked like she could curl up anywhere in that set.  And Cleo- what a shocker to find her here!  You clearly are a good friend to them all.

Frankie is all giggles at this point.  I wanted to interview the elusive Cleo, but she slipped out of the studio as soon as the photo shoot was finished.  I am going to catch up to her one of these days!

My PB Ray Make-Over…Part One

Hey, what can I say?  My days were numbered when PB’s brother found me.  Tossed away like a piece of garbage and I felt pretty bad.
The first thing PB did was to give me a hot soak and a good scrub.  Then she let me hang out on her porch with her cactus collection.  That woman loves things that bite.  No wonder her brother took me to see her.
After a week of fresh air and feeling welcomed, she started on my face.  Wish we had photos, but she does several things at once, and her camera was not handy at the time.   My mouth and eyes got  special treatment, and she started the process of bringing my scales back to life.  Which you would never guess, since she painted them black/green first.  She said I needed a new beginning.  Indeed.
So, we are starting in the middle in a way, but I thought, hey, my readers might notice a change- so why not document it?

My mini interview with PB follows the photos.

GZ:  So, how is it working me over this way?

PB: Tedious.  No offense.  Your scales are pretty tiny.  You may have noticed I am re-doing them one at a time.

GZ: Yes, I did notice. What kind of paint are you using?

PB:  Liquitex with a medium for slow drying.  Makes the paint smoother and gives me a bit more time to work.

GZ:  I noticed thet you keep mixing color.  Is there a reason for that?

PB:  Yes.  I don't paint every scale the same color.  That would look terrible.  I go back in and change some of them.  There needs to be some variation.

GZ:  Wow.  I didn't realize.  Hmm.  Change of subject:
Frankie sent over a box she said I cannot open until you are done…any idea what is in that box?

PB: Not a clue.  Maybe another hat?

GZ: Oh, I hadn’t thought of that.  She tried all kinds of things on me.  Hat, her sunglasses…

PB:  Frankie will keep you guessing- a lot.  She knows how to put things together and keep things together.

GZ:  I agree.  Now, what are you doing next, after you finally finish the scales?

PB: We will start on your, um, what do you call these anyway?

She is touching my crest that runs down the middle of my neck and back- clear through to my tail.  We laugh.  End of interview.

So what is in the box from Frankie?  Any guesses out there?  I am thinking we should have a contest around this mystery.

Next Week:

My Interview with Frankie by GZ

This week I interviewed Frankie while she was working on set.  Frankie is currently modeling for Dolly Dolly Fashions on etsy.  Yours Truly got talked into taking some photos with Frankie.  It turned out to be a lot of fun.  Read on:

GZ: So, what got you started in modeling?  Boring question, I know.

FS:  I am rarely bored.  And no, not boring.  It all started when I went shopping one day at Dolly Dolly Fashions.  They had some great clothes, and I met the owner.  We clicked and I have been modeling off and on ever since.

GZ: So, is this a career choice?  Are you modeling for other stores?

FS:  Currently I am modeling most often for Dolly Dolly- we have a contract.  But I am saving my money.  I want to have my own store.

GZ: That sounds ambitious.  What kind of store?

FS:  I have to back up here, do you mind?

GZ:  Please, feel free to back up!

FS: I discovered after I started modeling that I love to draw, paint and to sew.

GZ: That is a lot to discover.

FS:  I know.  (she is blushing)

GZ:  So, you like to draw- have you taken classes?

FS:  Oh, yes!  Lots of them.  I have taken painting classes and design classes too.

GZ:  And sewing classes too?

FS: Well, I started sewing in high school.  I was not very good at it at first.  But I got better.  My final was a backpack I made for my friend Ghoulia. (see pics below)  After I took some design classes at community ghoul school, I improved a lot. I am wearing one of my own creations.  Because I knew you were coming.

GZ:  Wild and pink I see. Your creation I mean.  I am sensing a theme here...

FS: (She is blushing again)  I am now part of the Dolly Dolly Fashions design team…  (Her voice trails off.)

GZ:  Frankie, do not hide your light under a basket!  That sounds like a pretty big deal to me.

FS:  Yes, it is a big deal.  (she is grinning now)

GZ: Okay, now let’s circle back to the store shall we?

FS:  Oh, I design more than clothes.  I want to have a shop with handmade one of a kind items.  Some of them would be mine- but I would really like to include other artisans.

GZ: Whoa.  Very ambitious- and something I know I would like to see.

FS: Well, I am working on it.  (She beams at me.  Serious crush happening here.)

GZ: I see they are waving us over for the photo shoot.  Ready?

Frankie nods and we head over to a simple set and if you look at the photos, you will see we had a great time.

I am not big on hats, but Frankie wanted to give it a try.

How could I say "NO" to such a great ghoul?!

Movie Shot.  Well, that is what I was thinking...

On our way out the door.  Going to get some pizza.

Next Week:
After lunch photo session with a peek at Frankie's new collection.

A look at my "make-over" after a visit to PB Ray's studio.

Grrr Ahhh Welcome!

Welcome to My Monster Crush

Just getting started.  We here at The Crush, as we call it, will be adding different stories and showcasing what we find interesting in the world of Monster Mania.  Right now, the big vibe is coming from Monster High, and the wave it has created, lifting all of our boats in a rising tide of a wonderful fright filled mania.

Monster High was started- and is owned by Mattel.  Monster High has been hijacked like Fay Wray of King Kong fame by fans around the world.  We want to make them our own.

I am known around here as The Big GZ, GZ or sometimes, Big Guy.  I will be doing most of the writing with some guest writers featured here and there.  Our Editor and Chief Monster Wrangler is PB Ray.

Stories in the making and sitting on my editor's (throat clearing) desk include:

>An interview with Frankie Stein about her career and her future plans, complete with a photo shoot you do not want to miss.

>A review of the latest from Dolly Dolly Fashions with a photo layout of some of the best fashions a ghoul could want to own.

>How to bits about custom and original character MH dolls  and other stories about other monsters and monster makers.

Is there something you want to know about?  Got a favorite fan site you want to share?  Tell me about it and I will include it here.
