Hello Hello Hello

Now before you think you have dropped in on the wrong blog, rest assured this is still my monster crush and while I may have lost a bit of my mind in the last 2 months and have not been in here to do a dang thing- this is me checking in. With my friend Phred.

 

In case you missed past posts- my Mom died last January- and she was a hoarder who had not allowed another human being inside her home in over 20 years.  Since then, I have been traveling from Las Vegas to southern California once a week to dig out her home. I have gone with my brother and with my husband and I am one tired woman at this point. 

 

So who is Phred?  you might be saying.  Phred is my husband's creation.  He is a single cell being with a very simple mind and outlook.  He came along for the ride this last trip.  Phred had his picture taken all along the trip- but was not allowed inside the house.  That is because I don't have a hazmat suit made for him.

 

 

Coming Up!

Mini tissue box and take out carton were made by me.  They can be made by you too!

 

I am working on some miniature 1:6 scale things you can make for your dolls- and when I finish I will put up a new post with instructions and jpegs you can use to make your own items.  There will be simple how-to projects for making books, a tissue box, take out boxes with chop sticks and other small items.

 

 

 

Viewing the world with doll eyes can be liberating and fun- you will (if you don't already) start seeing things as possible doll items rather than say, seeing a match book.  You'll see what I mean in my next post.

 

I get to go back to Cali tomorrow.  Wheeeee!  (Not really, but I do try to stay as positive as possible.)

Ooo-La-La

Made For A Friend

 

 

 

 

 

 

I have a friend who shares photos of clothes made for dolls and real people that she really likes.  She is also very generous. She has sent me fabric and some rather extravagant gifts.  This week I had the time to make something for her as a "Thank You!" for all of the lovely things she shares and sends my way.

 

This ensemble was made with tulle, lace, silk ribbon, satin ribbon and thread.  It took an entire day to make the skirt- it is even fussier than it looks. 

Well, to be fair, I am very fussy about how I make things ;)~

I wanted it to look "Monster High" but still retain the bit of "naughty" my friend enjoys.

Pink Steampunk Kawaii

Running Away to Join the Circus!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Yoked skirt made with 100% cotton in pink, red and vanilla stripes.

 

The body of the blouse and its large peter pan collar is made from thin black cotton gauze.  The sleeves are made with cotton candy pink and white striped cotton.  There is hand applied vintage ecru lace, silk ribbon and tiny black shank buttons down the front.  Both pieces close with a snap in the back.

 

We go back to Mom's for more clean up tomorrow (Friday).  After that I am taking 2 weeks off to sew, while my brother takes 2 weeks to get his Rat Rod Adult Big Wheel ready for action at Viva Las Vegas.  If he doesn't sell it before I get there to take photos, I will share his creation here.
