Candy Finished!

After Candy was all painted, she sat patiently waiting in her borrowed pink robe waiting for some clothes.

Just to be sure I got it right, she showed me her favorite color....

That is a PINK pencil she is holding.

Interview With Frankie:

GZ:  I was kinda suprised when I came to the photo shoot today Frankie.

F:  I know.  Everyone thinks my Dad is huge.  He does have gigantic hands. But Mom is actually the tall one in our family.

GZ:  Clearly you come from a very nice family. I really enjoyed meeting your Dad.  I would love to meet your Mom too.

F:  I am really proud of my family.  My Dad made all those movies, and Mom made a few too.  They worked really hard.  Movie monsters didn't used to make a lot of money- as you know.

GZ:  That is very true.  Things have improved.  Look at you and what you are doing.

F:  Yes. I heard that you wanted to visit my design (slash) sewing studio?

GZ:  I sure do!

F:  Great!  Let's schedule that.

Easter Week EEK!

 Monster Bunnies

After finishing last week’s entry, I realized that the next entry (this one) would be happening during Easter Week.  Time to feature a bunny creature!

Alison O’Bryan makes these wonderful creatures and offers them for sale on etsy.  I chose her bunny because it appealed to both the grown up and the kid in me.

My Interview with Cherry Bomb!

Find Out What It Is Like To Become A Custom MH Doll

GZ:  Good evening Cherry.  Welcome to My Monster Crush.

CB:  Thanks Big G.

GZ:  I must say, when the first photos hit my desk top, I thought, “Wow, her head is blown off!”  Then I looked at the rest of the photos.

CB: (Laughs, knowingly)

GZ:  I would like to walk through this with you step by step.  I also have a question that comes first—what does it feel like to be a Custom?

CB:  Well GZ, it was actually a bit frightening at first. Then I realized, I was like a child or other member of the family.  So much care is taken with a Custom like myself.  I feel honored. Too bad you weren’t around to interview Valentina.  She could really tell you some stories!

GZ:  I know, I know.  Valentina is now a legend around the studio.  But, Cherry, I am sitting here with you.  What frightened you at first?

CB:  Oh, well, first there was the blow dryer!  Hot, hot, hot!  And my head started flipping down- then came the wrestling match.  My head was removed and I thought, “What is this?!”

GZ:  Sends a shiver down my spine!

CB: Exactly!  Then, the scissors come out.  Snip, snip, snip.  Most of my hair is gone.  Then the needle nose pliers- and the plucking begins.  After all of my hair was removed, my head was put into my lap! Honestly, I was wondering what was next. I was really frightened.

GZ:  So what calmed you down?

CB: The new hair!  I mean, its just fabulous.  First, the color!  And it went in with great care.  I realized as I was getting my re-root, that those hands were very careful about everything.  I started to wonder what was next in a whole new way.  Now I was excited to see what was coming next.

GZ:  The custom process didn’t stop with the hair.  What came next?

CB:  The body blushing.  Then my body was sealed.  What came after might have scared me, but I was trusting the process by then.

GZ: So, what came next?

CB:  Remover!  First my lip color was removed, then my eyebrows and of course my eyes.

GZ:  Then the painting began?

CB: Yes!  I got green eyes and red lips and blushed cheeks- it took 3 days- because of my eyes, but it was marvelous!

GZ:  Why did the eyes take so long Cherry?

CB:  30 thin layers of paint and Sakura Crystal.  30!

GZ:  Amazing.  What was next?

CB: Wardrobe.  (she stands up twirls around)  You like?

GZ:  If you could see beneath my scales…

CB: (Laughing) I can imagine!  Being a Custom is such fun!

GZ:  I understand you are leaving us and going to a new home in Tennesee?

CB:  Yes I am!  Me and Kaboom.  I am very happy.  I will be living with many other Custom Monster High Ghouls there.  I can hardly wait!

GZ:  I wish you all the best in your new home.
One last question,
“What is the difference between a Custom and a Re-Paint?  Is there a difference?”

CB:  What a great question Big G.  I don’t know if there is really a difference- but in my mind there is a difference.  A Custom has everything.  New hair, new paint, new clothes and sometimes new ears, horns, a pet- or some other thing that makes them stand out.  Custom’s usually have a theme.  A story, if you will.
I have my dog Kaboom, and a nice set of clothes made just for me- and look at my shoes!  Painted to match me!  So, I think of a Custom as having the works.

GZ:  Very thoughtful answer Cherry.  Thank You.

Cherry left and we missed her the moment she was out the door.

After Lunch With Frankie, Part II of Interview

BMOC*
Yours Truly and Ghoulia in a Frankie Stein Design
(*big monster on campus)

GZ:  We are back after a great lunch at a pizza place down the street.  Frankie, I just felt there was more to this interview after we sat down to lunch and you started talking about your new line of designs.

FS: It was a good lunch GZ. Thanks for coming with me.  You know how to have fun!

GZ:  My pleasure.  Now, tell me about your latest line.  Please.

FS:  I found this wonderful fabric.  A lush and lovely stretch jersey in gray and black.  It just sang to me.  I did some sketches and then hit the sewing table and what I showed you is what happened.

Ghoulia and Cleo in Frankie's new line

GZ:  Well, seems like a bit more than that.  I saw chains and leather…

FS: Oh, that!  I have wanted to take things a bit further in my designs.  They seemed to compliment the softness of the jersey, while also giving the designs an extra kick.

Leather and chain cuff bracelet

GZ:  I see a bit of jewelry too…

FS:  Yes, just a little.  I am still learning.  (she smiles that classic Frankie smile!)

GZ: You made some phone calls for us- and got some of your friends in here to model.

FS:  Yes, I did!

GZ: Ghoulia looked pretty stunning in that outfit.  Clawdeen looked like she could curl up anywhere in that set.  And Cleo- what a shocker to find her here!  You clearly are a good friend to them all.

Frankie is all giggles at this point.  I wanted to interview the elusive Cleo, but she slipped out of the studio as soon as the photo shoot was finished.  I am going to catch up to her one of these days!

My PB Ray Make-Over…Part One

Hey, what can I say?  My days were numbered when PB’s brother found me.  Tossed away like a piece of garbage and I felt pretty bad.
The first thing PB did was to give me a hot soak and a good scrub.  Then she let me hang out on her porch with her cactus collection.  That woman loves things that bite.  No wonder her brother took me to see her.
After a week of fresh air and feeling welcomed, she started on my face.  Wish we had photos, but she does several things at once, and her camera was not handy at the time.   My mouth and eyes got  special treatment, and she started the process of bringing my scales back to life.  Which you would never guess, since she painted them black/green first.  She said I needed a new beginning.  Indeed.
So, we are starting in the middle in a way, but I thought, hey, my readers might notice a change- so why not document it?

My mini interview with PB follows the photos.

GZ:  So, how is it working me over this way?

PB: Tedious.  No offense.  Your scales are pretty tiny.  You may have noticed I am re-doing them one at a time.

GZ: Yes, I did notice. What kind of paint are you using?

PB:  Liquitex with a medium for slow drying.  Makes the paint smoother and gives me a bit more time to work.

GZ:  I noticed thet you keep mixing color.  Is there a reason for that?

PB:  Yes.  I don't paint every scale the same color.  That would look terrible.  I go back in and change some of them.  There needs to be some variation.

GZ:  Wow.  I didn't realize.  Hmm.  Change of subject:
Frankie sent over a box she said I cannot open until you are done…any idea what is in that box?

PB: Not a clue.  Maybe another hat?

GZ: Oh, I hadn’t thought of that.  She tried all kinds of things on me.  Hat, her sunglasses…

PB:  Frankie will keep you guessing- a lot.  She knows how to put things together and keep things together.

GZ:  I agree.  Now, what are you doing next, after you finally finish the scales?

PB: We will start on your, um, what do you call these anyway?

She is touching my crest that runs down the middle of my neck and back- clear through to my tail.  We laugh.  End of interview.

So what is in the box from Frankie?  Any guesses out there?  I am thinking we should have a contest around this mystery.

Next Week:

>My interview with Cherry Bomb, a new MH Custom doll from the explosive zone!

>A new Book Collection available at Dolly Dolly Fashions.

>My favorite Monster item on etsy- that is a non MH.
